Toward a Society Where Space Solutions Are Accessible to Everyone

Founded in 2008 as a microsatellite venture stemming from the University of Tokyo and Tokyo Institute of Technology (now Institute of Science Tokyo), Axelspace marked its 18th anniversary in August 2026.
Since our founding, we have remained committed to our Vision, “Space within Your Reach.” Our journey began with a desire to make space — once accessible only to a limited number of governments — more accessible and something that many more people can use as a natural part of their lives. Guided by this belief, we have expanded our business from the development and operation of microsatellites to the provision of Earth observation data and, increasingly, to solutions that address a wide range of customer needs.

Over the past 18 years, the environment surrounding space has changed dramatically. Space is rapidly transitioning from something to be “developed” into something to be “utilized” to solve challenges faced by society and industry. We, too, have come to focus not simply on building and operating satellites, but on how the technologies and data they provide can be transformed into meaningful value for society.

Even amid such dramatic change, our Vision never lost its relevance. It has remained Axelspace’s North Star, consistently guiding us forward. What has evolved is the way we think and act in pursuit of that Vision. As we marked our 18th anniversary, we took the opportunity to revisit and renew our Mission — our role in realizing that Vision — with an eye toward the next decade.

This Mission reflects our determination not to treat space as something special or distant, but to move closer to the needs and challenges of society and our customers, combining space-based technologies and data in the most effective ways to deliver meaningful value.

Today, Axelspace operates two core businesses： AxelLiner, which provides end-to-end support for satellite projects from design and manufacturing through launch and operations, and AxelGlobe, which delivers data and solutions through our Earth observation satellite constellation. Looking ahead, we will continue to expand our satellite constellation, scale up satellite production, increase opportunities for in-orbit demonstrations, and advance research and development of next-generation technologies. We will also accelerate co-creation with a diverse range of partners in Japan and around the world.

Ten years from now, satellite technologies and data will likely be integrated far more naturally into social infrastructure and the services people use every day. By then, people may not even be conscious that they are “using space.” We are working toward a future where using space is no longer something extraordinary. As a pioneer in the microsatellite field, we will continue taking on new challenges and creating value for people around the world as we work toward realizing “Space within Your Reach.”
