The commendation ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s Office on August 26, 2025.

This awards program aims to honor outstanding startups for their creation of new businesses with a socially positive impact that may provide role models for people in the next generation. By doing this, it raises public awareness of the importance of proactively taking on challenges and disseminates evaluation results about entrepreneurs, thereby encouraging people throughout society to take on new challenges. The METI, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), the MEXT, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), and the Ministry of Defense (MOD) open for applications to the public, and the winners are selected by a judging committee composed of economic organizations and experts.

The MEXT Minister’s Award is presented to startups established by leveraging university research outcomes, and is given to companies that are highly recognized for their contributions to commercializing these outcomes.

The predecessor of Axelspace HD, Axelspace Corporation, was founded in 2008 based on research and development of CubeSats, palm-sized satellites weighing one kilogram, conducted by the University of Tokyo and the Tokyo Institute of Technology (now the Institute of Science Tokyo). Axelspace group has promoted the private sector’s use of satellites through short-term, low-cost microsatellite development and the provision of services that meet societal needs. This award recognizes its initiative to translate university research on microsatellites into practical applications.

Under our vision of “Space within Your Reach,” we will continue to grow our business with the aim of realizing a society where space is accessible to people around the world.
